Alona Lebedieva establishes a charitable foundation to support children in Europe

The Foundation will finance rehabilitation for wounded Ukrainian children under the age of 15.

The non-profit organization Aurum Charity Foundation, headquartered in Brussels, will help Ukrainian children affected by the war access critical medical care in Europe.

As explained by the founder of the Foundation and owner of the industrial and investment group Aurum, Alona Lebedieva, the non-profit organization will fund treatment for children who require medical assistance.

The number of injured children in Ukraine grows every day; hundreds of children are wounded, and these injuries have changed their lives. We work closely with local hospitals and doctors to identify children who need specialized medical care, and our team of professionals helps facilitate and fund their treatment,” — said the founder of the Foundation, Alona Lebedieva.

“The Foundation will provide surgical and rehabilitation assistance to injured children aged 0 to 15 who have been affected by the conflict.

According to Alona Lebedieva, to identify children who need treatment and rehabilitation support, the Aurum Charity Foundation team will cooperate with medical providers in Kyiv and in regions close to active combat zones.

At this stage, we plan to focus on the rehabilitation of children with various shrapnel injuries. We currently have three girls from Kharkiv who require both physical and psychological rehabilitation. Their diagnoses include: an injury to the hip joint, multiple shrapnel wounds to the face and neck, and nerve damage in the arm caused by shrapnel trauma. Ukrainian doctors provided urgent care, and we will now try to restore the children’s health in clinics across Europe.

Since 2017, Alona Lebedieva’s Ukrainian charitable foundation Aurum has been financing life-saving treatment for infants with disabilities and supplying new medical devices to hospitals throughout Ukraine.

The foundation’s primary mission was to provide emergency medical assistance to newborns requiring surgery in the first weeks of life, or to families unable to cover medical expenses. We also supported Ukrainian hospitals by funding facility repairs and modern medical equipment. In total, we donated more than 2 million UAH for medical aid,” — noted Alona Lebedieva.

As previously reported, with the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Aurum foundation shifted its focus to supporting the Ukrainian army and providing humanitarian aid to civilians.

We have always responded quickly to the country’s social needs. Together with volunteers and private donations, we supplied eight vehicles to the army, donated thousands of plate carriers, and raised over 6.5 million UAH in 2022,” — said Alona Lebedieva.

According to UNESCO, more than 3 million children in Ukraine required medical assistance in 2023.
